The Troubled Lands
The Spirit of Kings
In the Troubled Lands belief is power and few individuals are given such undivided devotion and faith from those around them as Kings. As a King grows greater in prestige, as their name and lands spread, as more pay fealty to them so does the Spirit of Kings grow. The Spirit does not belong to a single King but is an accumulation of the belief in kingship both past and present. A well of power that each King, sometimes unknowingly, contributes to. However each King does leave an impression on the Spirit, allowing even dead Kings to live on in the realm known only as the Golden Throne Room. Such dead Kings have also been known to contribute to The Spirit of Kings even after death, as their people continue to honor their memory.
Through an effort of will it is possible for one of the Kingblood to draw from The Spirit of Kings, there are countless stories of Kings performing supposed miracles, healing their people or having visions of future disaster. All are fueled by the Spirit of Kings.
Its is important to note that a King can be of any gender, morality, race or culture. They must be the definitive ruler of their people but do not have to use the moniker of King. Also by no means do they have to be a "good" King, though some argue that the belief fed into The Spirit by tyrannical and evil Kings has been known to taint it somehow.
